We will have many events for you to meet other new students and have some fun. And on this page you can see some more information about them. We recommend you to add the calendar to your phone, since we might have to update it from time to time.
The reception lecture will be the first event to welcome you in Uppsala. It will include a lot of practical information for your studies and give you an overview about the reception.

Here you will have a chance to learn more about the section for your program. You might not know yet what sections are, but they are an important part of studies in Uppsala.
Sections not only organize fun events for their students, they are also responsible to represent the students at their department and help with study related issues. You can identify the different sections based on their color.
More information on sections can be found at UTN: Link
Hej, hej! Du vill lära dig svenska och ta lite fika med oss?
Does this still sound foreign to you? No worries - we'll have you covered in our own Swedish lecture to get you prepared with the basics. We will also uncover some of the unique and exciting traditions here in Sweden and Uppsala. During the lesson you can enjoy some fika, which is a very important part of the Swedish culture.
If you are Swedish or you are already fluent in Swedish you are of course warmly invited to join and share your knowledge!
Sting Festivalen is an annual event organized by the Uppsala Union of Engineering and Science Students (UTN) to welcome new students to Uppsala University. This vibrant festival features information booths from various student organizations, interactive activities, and networking opportunities, allowing newcomers to explore the diverse student life. You can participate in fun competitions, connect with peers and enjoy the music. Join us and visit our booth!
The Recce Dance is a lively tradition at Uppsala University’s Union of Engineering and Science Students (UTN) with a new dance each year for the incoming students, known as "recces". We will learn the dance together in this session.
Sweden is not only known for its friendly people, meatballs and IKEA, but also for its beautiful nature! Join us on a hike, cycle, run or bus journey to lake Ekoln, only 7 km south of the Ångström Laboratory.
This is the perfect opportunity to get to know your new fellow students better and to enjoy the late Swedish summer. Bring food & drink, swimming gear and good vibes!

In this special event we will join TBD (The reception for bachelor students in Engineering and Computer Science) in a fun rally (by foot) around the city of Uppsala. After performing the recce dance with hundreds of other students in Storatorget in the city centre, you will race to solve the rally task in groups to collect as many points as possible, while getting to know the city of Uppsala!
If you want to make new friends while playing sports, from Jugger to Brännboll, this is the event for you! No sign up required just come along and see what's on offer!
The volleyball pitch is located near the MER tent, so come and have a go! And if you don't feel like playing you can find many other people to chit-chat on the lawn or in our tent.
Uppsala has multiple disc golf courses and we will try our luck at Rosendals Discgolfbana. Disc golf is a fun combination of frisbee and golf. So the perfect outdoor activity for a Tuesday night. All you need is yourself and something to swig on - we'll bring the rest!
Now that you have figured how to navigate the houses of Ångström Laboratory, it is time to get a little bit lost again and play a round of hide and seek.
Some grilling with new friends, a little stargazing and maybe a nice round of Kubb? What better way to end the day, than a get together like Grill & Games.
Bring your own food to grill, and anything you'd like to drink!
The pub quiz will be held at Uthgård. We will have multiple rounds with different themes. Teams will be put together upon arrival, so bring your new friends or come along to make more!
This event does not require a (temporary) nation card, because Uthgård is our beloved union house and not a nation. However a valid ID is required.
Uppsala's Nations are great and who doesn't like a good old fashioned pub crawl? So why not combine them in your first of hopefully many unforgettable nights in Uppsala.
On the pub crawl you will walk in small groups between the nation pubs and spend some time to get to know the other students and have some fun. You will also be able to compete against other groups in some small tasks through out the night.
IMPORTANT: This event requires a ticket, (temporary) nation card and valid ID.
We want to stress that nobody should feel pressured to drink alcohol. Alcohol-free options will be available at all pubs. Talk to your group leader or any committee member if you feel uncomfortable at any point.
Nation clubs are big in Uppsala. How big? Let's find out together. We will join one of the many nation clubs and have a fun night out.
IMPORTANT: This event requires a (temporary) nation card and valid ID.
TDB (the reception for bachelor students in Engineering and Computer Science) have invited us to join their after party tent at Ångström. The after party has a dance floor and DJ and is open many days throughout the two weeks. Entry is free with a TDB festival band.
IMPORTANT: It is required to buy a (very cheap!) festival band once to have access to the tent for all the days. We will sell them during the reception. A valid ID is also required to enter the tent. No nation card required.
All good receptions have to come to an end. But we will celebrate it with a true classic: a Sittning.
You might ask yourself: What is a Sittning?
In short: It is a formal (or sometimes informal) dinner with food, speeches, toasts, games, spexes and a lot of singing. This event is one of the many highlights of the Swedish student culture and we could not have ended the reception without it.
See more information on the Sittning here: Link
IMPORTANT: This event requires a ticket (more info on this later) and a valid ID. No nation card required.
